Font Notes:
Noted abd illustrated in Hallbäck (1961) as a baptismal font made of soapstone in 1240-1280. Noted and illustrated in the SHM’s database Medeltidens bildvärld [http://medeltidbild.historiska.se/medeltidbild/visa/foremal.asp?objektid= 930511F2] [accessed 1 January 2015] as a baptismal font made of soapstone in the 14th century; the hexagonal shape, unique in Sweden indicates it may have been originally made in Norway, according to this source. The font consists of a hexafoil-shaped basin with sides tapering downwards to a rope moulding, each side bearing a shallow trefoiled arch on it; on a short pedestal base roughly of the same shape as the basin on the upper half, the lower half appearing round and made a circle of stylised rib (?) motifs; the lower base appears to be of dodecagonal shape, flat, with a concave scallop in each of the twelve sections. No font cover present.
