There are three entries for Warwick [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP2864/warwick/] [accessed 17 December 2014], but neither mentions cleric or church in it. Notices of the churches of Warwickshire (vol. 1, 1847) notes that the original chancel of this church "had been the Choir of an ancient Nunnery, destroyed by the Danes in the year 1016 [...] The principal entrance is through the lower stage of the tower, which forms a vestibule or lobby, on the walls of which are affixed two monuments from the former Church. [...] The Font resembles in shape a fluted stone urn with a twisted fluted cover, and is placed at the west end of the Church." The present font has a tall round basin decorated with a roll moulding at the upper rim, a diagonal ribbed pattern all around below; the basin of the font is probably 16th-18th century, but the stem and lower base appear to be a later replacement; the description matches the font described in 1847 [cf. supra].
