Our local source, Joost Limburg [www.romanicoportugal.info] [e-mail of 10 December 2014] wrote: "The octagonal font is the usual thirteen-in-a-dozen, but the other one looks old indeed, don't you think? Shapewise it reminds me of the one in São Miguel do Castelo in Guimarães, although it's a bit bigger, about 90 cm across on the outside." This font appears to be mounted on an irregular quadrangular lower base. The basin appears to have a side drain, an indication that it may have been used as a water-trough at some point. The side now facing north appears rough, unlike the other sides, and may have been intended to face a wall or corner.
