There are two entries for Shuttington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SK2505/shuttington/] [accessed 15 December 2014], but neither mentions cleric or church in it. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 4, 1947) notes: "The church of Shuttington was given by William Burdet in 1159 to Malvern Priory for the formation of the Priory of Alvecote. [...] The living subsequently became a perpetual curacy, and later a vicarage [...] The nave dates from about 1150, with many later alterations. The chancel was rebuilt probably in the 13th century. The church was restored in 1844 and in 1908–9 [...] The font has a plain round bowl, splayed in the lower half, and a cylindrical stem and chamfered base: it may be ancient." English Heritage [Listing NGR: SK2551005207] (1988) reports a "font of indeterminate date" in this C12 and C14 church. The entry for Shuttington in Warwickshire Churches [http://warwickshirechurches.weebly.com/shuttington---st-matthew.html] [accessed 15 December 2014] reports: "the font is a plain tub on a cylindrical stem, probably of some antiquity but so devoid of detail (and likely reworked) it would be hard to say more".
