Font Notes:
The SIPA entry for this church [www.monumentos.pt/Site/APP_PagesUser/SIPA.aspx?id=529] [ref.: IPA.00000529 / No. IPA Antigo: PT011703320019] [accessed 14 December 2014] notes: "No exterior conservam-se duas pias baptismais em granito, uma de contorno octagonal e outra, românica, de contorno circular com decoração de encordoado na zona inferior." Octagonal basin with plain vertical sides, and a slightly convex underbowl chamfer to a reduced octagonal neck for an octagonal stem, the latter simply a stump now; there are marcks at the upper rim witnessing the damage by, and cutting for, an earlier font cover. Given the reduced area for the pedestal the font is likely to be of the very late medieval period or, more likely, of the Renaissance.
