Font Notes:
There are four entries for Fillongley in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP2887/fillongley/] [accessed 3 December 2014]; the part tenanted by "Robert the bursar" in 1086 reports a cleric but mentions no church in it, though there probably was one there. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 4, 1947) notes; "There was a priest living on Robert Despenser's ½ hide in Fillongley in 1086. [...] Henry de Hastings, lord of the manor of Fillongley, presented to the church in 1248 [...] The oldest surviving part of the fabric is the lower part of the chancel, which retains some 12th-century masonry [...] The font has a tall cup-shaped bowl with a series of convex faces divided by vertical rolls or ribs, and a rolledged rim. The base is moulded. It may be of the 15th century or an earlier one re-cut." English Heritage [Listing NGR: SP2808887171] (1961) reports: "Font, C15. Stone. Round bowl with vertical ribs dividing the panels."
