Font Notes:
The Warwick University Bell Ringing Society entry for Honiley [www2.warwick.ac.uk/sunion/wubrs/society/honiley/] [accessed 24 November 2014] notes: "Honiley was listed in the Domesday Book as 'Hunilege'". The National Archives entry [ref.: E 31/2/2/1569] [http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/browse/r/h/D7308555] [accessed 24 November 2014]: "Donnelie [...] Folio 240r". The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 3, 1945) notes: "The parish church [...] was built in 1723. [...] The stone font is modern, but in the deep north splay of the inner west doorway is a coved half-round niche fitted with a partly projecting marble basin. It has no drain but was probably intended to serve as a font." [NB: unfortunately the location and description of the object would surely suggest it is a holy-water stoup, not a baptismal font]. English Heritage [Listing NGR: SP2448972228] (1967) entry for this church reports: "Parish church, originally private chapel of Honiley Hall, which has been demolished. Built in 1723. Probably by Francis Smith of Warwick. [...] Font under the tower - a small circular marble basin set into a niche."
