Scene Description: Source caption: "The south side of the church from the edge of the churchyard. Many scholars believe this to be the place where William Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, since records of the marriage do not appear in Stratford itself, and a licence was issued for Shakespeare to marry in Temple Grafton. However marriage records for the period have been lost."

Font Notes:
There is an entry for [Temple] Grafton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP1254/temple-grafton/] [accessed 21 November 2014]; it reports a priest but does not mention a church in it, though there probably was one there. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 3, 1945) notes: "There was a church at Grafton in 1086. Both the rectory and the advowson were acquired by the Hospitallers, their earliest recorded presentation being in 1277. [...] The parish church [...] was entirely rebuilt in 1875". English Heritage [Listing NGR: SP1235854862] (2000) reports: "Church. 1875. By F Preedy, for JW Carlisle. [...] font has clustered shafts and trefoil-headed arcade." The present font is from the 1875 re-building by Frederick Preedy, the one noted in English Heritage [cf. supra]. We have no information on the font of the original church here.
