The Victoria County History (Worcester, vol. 3, 1913) notes: "The parish of Church Lench lies on the eastern border of the county. The parish includes the hamlets of Ab Lench or Hob Lench, [...] Now known as Abbots Lench [...] Atch Lench and Sheriff's Lench, the first being a chapelry of Fladbury until 28 December 1865", but mentions no church in Ab Lench.
