No entry found for this Oldbury in the Domesday survey. Miller (1890) mentions Christ Church as a 1840 replacement for the 1529 Chapel of St. Nicholas; no font mentioned. Discovering Shropshire's History [http://search.shropshirehistory.org.uk/collections/getrecord/CCS_MSA305/] [accessed 10 November 2014] writes: "The chapel of St Nicholas was founded at Oldbury about the year 1138." 'Old-time Oldbury: Photographs and memories' (2000) [www.historyofoldbury.co.uk/Oldtime Oldbury.pdf] [accessed 10 November 2014] by the Oldbury Local History Group informs that the original chapel of St. Nicholas had become dilapidated and too small for its community by 1837; a new church was inaugurated in 1841.
