There are eleven entries for Droitwich [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SO8963/droitwich/] [accessed 16 September 2014], it being spread over seven counties, from Worcestershire through Oxfordshire; only one of the eleven entries, the holding for which Leofnoth the priest was lord, reports a priest in it but there is no mention of a church, though there probably was one there. Miller (1890) mentions the church of "St. Mary, Witton" as being united to Droitwich St. Andrew's, and, at the time of his writing, "Nothing now remains of St. Mary's Church." The Worcester Branch of the Birmingham & Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry [www.worcesterbmsgh.co.uk/parish/droitwich-st-andrew-(with-st-m] [accessed 6 November 2014] notes: "In 1662 Droitwich St Andrew gained Droitwich St Mary De Witton. Droitwich St Mary De Witton was in decay in the14th century and abolished in 1662 entirely to Droitwich St Andrew. The union was civilly called Droitwich St Andrew, ecclesiastically as Droitwich St Andrew with St Mary Witton. It was abolished civilly in 1920 to help create Droitwich Civil Parish and abolished ecclesiastically in 1972 to help create Droitwich Ecclesiastical Parish." [NB: this source is footnoted to:
