Font Notes:
One of the two stoups in the cathedral church, a composite work that incorporates a stylophore couchant lioness originaly from the church of Santa Maria Maggiore; the stoup consists of a hemispherical basin with a torus-scotia pattern, raised on a couchant lioness with prey between its paws (the position of the 'prey' denotes protection by the lioness), and a tiny cub (?) sucking at her side; on top of a lower base with scrolled side decoration. [cf. Index entry for Como No. 1 for an almost identical stoup across nave at the west end]
