FontID: 19441KER
Object Type: Baptismal Font1?
Church/Chapel: Chapel? / Church? [disappeared?]
Country Name: England
Location: Worcestershire, West Midlands
Directions to Site: There is no Kersoe village/hamlet anymore; just a couple of farmsteads and cottages, located at the foot of Bredon Hill, not far from Elmley Castle
Ecclesiastic Region: [Diocese of Worcester]
Font Location in Church: Located in the transept at Elmley Castle St. Mary's ca. 1913]
Church Notes: not known whether a church/chapel existed here or not
Font Notes:
The entry for Elmeley Castle in the Victoria County History (Worcester, vol. 3, 1913) notes: "An old stone bowl now in the transept was brought from a farm at Kersoe." It is not clear whether or not this is a baptismal font bowl or stoup, or an unrelated object [e.g.: old grain measure, mortar bowl] mistakenly believed to be one, So far we have not been able to establish the presence of a church or chapel at Kersoe, a hamlet of Elmley Castle.
