Font Notes:
Baptismal font located now in the presbitery area, on the south side; it is of the general design of fonts produced on Gotland in the late 13th and early 14th cemtury, a hemispherical basin decorated with a simple ribbed pattern all around, raised on a conical pedestal base with a thick roll moulding at the bottom, and a plain round lower base [NB: the lower base here has had one side cut off, probably at some point in the past when the font was located against furniture or a wall]; the inner basin well has no drain and is not lined; the damage at the upper rim and the presence of a metal plug at the opposite end indicates a cover was attached to it in the past. [cf. Index entry for Wismar No. 1 for a bronze font formerly from St. Marien, now in this church].
