Font Notes:
Baptismal font from one of the earlier church buildings (the present one is mid-19th); it is somewhat in the style of the fonts at nearby Boke, Ostinghausen, Vellern, etc.; basin is roughly cylindrical tapering in slightlytowards the bottom; a band of elaborate vine motif just below the upper rim, the sides proper decorated with an arcade of round arches on columns with capitals and bases, containg standing figures, plus one with the Baptism of Christ in it; the latter has only two figures in it: Christ, to the left, haloed and partly covered by the waters of the Jordan, and, the Baptist, to the right, also haloed, his right hand on Christ's head; there is something else above Christ's head, to the left, perhaps the dove; the figure to the left of the baptism scene is identified as Peter, haloed and holding a large key in his right hand; the other figures are probably Apostles as well; around the lower part of the basin is a set of foliage clusters linked by rings, all beaded.
