Curwen (1932) finds the advowson of this church appear in 1289 in the Records in the Tower of London, and the church is valuen in the ""Antique Taxatio Ecclesiastica" of Pope Nicholas IV, made in the year 1291". English Heritage [Listing NGR: NY7429115705] (1957) notes: "Parish Church, dating from C12 with later additions and alterations", but mentions no font in it.
