There are two entries for Halsham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/TA2726/halsham/] [accessed 27 July 2014], neither of which mentions a church or cleric in it. English Heritage (1966) [Listing NGR: TA2680827745] gives the earliest date for the church the early-12th century, but the font as 19th-century. The present font is modern, probably of the 1871 restoration of the church here; octagomal in shape. [NB: we have no information on the font of the original church here].
