There is an entry for this Askham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SK7474/askham/] [accesed 27 July 2014], and it reports a priest and a church in it. English Heritage (1967) [Listing NGR: SK7397375000] dates the south nave as the earliest part of the church to the 12th century; the font is reported as 20th-century.
