Noted in Liste der Kirchen auf Rügen [http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Kirchen_auf_Rügen] [accessed 20 July 2014] as a baptismal font made of granite, probably older than the church itself, which is ca. 1400 [NB: not necessarily; the basin could be of ca, 1400 as well]. The font consists of a round basin with vertical sides and a rounded underbowl, raised on a round moulded pedestal base and an octagonal lower base; the basin has plain sides but the underbowl is deeply-carved with a pattern of broad striated ribs ribs in pairs; the base appears modern. [NB: the font [basin?] is said locally to have been a gift of Heinrich des Löwen [Henry the Lion (1129-1195)], but, given its design, it is an unlikely association]. The baptismal dish in use is early-17th cemtury.
