Baptismal font in alabaster and marble, the gift of Gräfin Anna in 1599 [www.stadt-stolberg.de/Die_Martinikirche] and [www.stolberger-geschichte.de/martini/pages/007.htm] [accessed 12 July 2014]. The basin is hexagonal and decorated with putti-like cherubs holding musical instruments and books, as well as one side that records the date and donation of the font by countess Anna Gravin in a German-language inscription; colonnettes at the corners of the basin; base has central hexagonal shaft with large scroll motifs, and six outer baluster-shaped colonnettes; plain hexagonal lower base. There is no cover apparent, but the inner basin has a metal lining insert. It originally had a cover that was raised and lower via a pulley, but the rope is said to have broken and the cover destroyed in April 1600.
