Font Notes:
Catalogued in Meier-Kreiskott (2011) with dating in the late-15th century, ca. 1477, and probably the work of master Matthäus Böblinger; it served as model for many other such fonts in the area. The rather shallow octagonal basin has slightly concave sides, not unlike some fonts of the late-Perpendicular period in the north of England; the sides are decorated with foliage vine shoots framed in piping; the underbowl has simple tracery pattern, with the piping continuing down the pedestal base to criss-cross into a fancy pattern on the lower base, with mixed piping, moulding and short buttresses and spurs; the last level, whether lower base or shorth plinth, replicates the shape of the upper rim. No cover present, but the basin interior is lined with a metal insert.
