The present font consists of a round basin of vertical sides, with a hemispherical underbowl; the basin sides are decorated with a running German inscription [text not available] between a crenellation at the top, and a ball-in-socket pattern below; at the front side are two shields with scrolled edges; the shield on the left bears the inscription "WOLF-MARCK" above a passant-gardant winged lion; the shield on the right bears the date "1599" above a set of initials that include P, M. S, M, T, as well as some cross symbols; the underbowl has a deeply carved ribbed pattern in which concave and covex ribs alternate; very large ribbed moulding as centre ring; round lower base with side piping. There appears to be large damage to one side of the basin. There is no cover present, but the basin has a metal baptismal dish on it. [cf. BSI entry Kitzingen No. 2 for the disappeared medieval font of the Roman Catholic Johanneskirche]
