Baptismal font consisting of a hexagonal basin, the panels decorated with figures identified as the four Evangelists, and two emblems of the donor at opposite ends, the inscription "HIS" [cf. infra] painted on the background; the angles with tall thin vases with floral motifs in them, fruit underneath; gilded scrolls on the underbowl; commissioned by Heinrich Julius Schrader, who appears portrayed with his wife, their names recorded with the date of the font in the inscription that runs along the top of the pedestal of the base; around the pedestal are three putti-like angels holding up the basin, one of them holding down a book; at the foot of one of the angels is another inscription; the top part is an abbreviation of "Soli Deo Gloria", while the lower part has the name of the master who made the font, Jeremias Sutler, born in Northeim in 1587 [source: image and text in Langenhagen bewegt [www.langenhagen.de/index.phtml?mNavID=1620.464&sNavID=1620.584] [accessed 29 June 2014]
