Noted and illustrated in Hallbäck (1961) as a baptismal font made of gray gneiss in the middle or late 13th century; it was damaged in the 1921 fire; similar to the font at Ucklum; the font, says the author, is a crude work by inexperienced hand [="De är båda klumpigt utförda av relativt enkla funtmakare"]. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 930513F2] as a baptismal font made of gneiss in the first half of the 13th century; it was damaged by fire in 1921; repaired with cement and metal cinches; by the same wrokshop as the font at Ucklum. Noted and illustrated in Kringla [www.kringla.nu/kringla/objekt?text=jörlanda+kyrka&sida=7&referens=raa/kmb/16000200003899] [accessed 20 June 2014] as a 13th-century baptismal from the church at Jörlanda; made of granitic 'glimmergnejs' [mica gneiss]; the font was badly damaged in a 1921 fire that destroyed most of the old church; the damaged font was later restored and moved to the re-built church; fortunately there are photographic records of the font captured before 1921; they show a round tub basin decorated with an acanthus vine below a flat moulding at the upper rim; raised on a round pedestal base with a pronounced centre ring moulding.
