Scene Description: The Baroque building locally known as 'Blankensee Schloss' or 'Sudermannschloss' was Hermann Sudermann's summer residence as of 1902, and held the author's collection of imported works of art, including the well-head that would later become a baptismal font at the parish church. Some of the rooms have been made available to visitors since 2006, and the gardens are maintained as a private park occessible to visitors at given dates.

The entry for the Dorfkirche Blankensee in the Förderkreis Alte Kirchen Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. The present font in this church is a square monolithic block with a carved out colonnade of two round arches per side; only the four angle columns are detached; the interior block is round; the whole object is profusely carved with human and animal heads, animal scenes, foliage, interlace patterns, etc. The basin interior is round and has a metal frame supporting baptismal dish, as it is common in these areas. It is locally known to have been formerly a Venetian well-head of the first-half of the 11th century, and it came to the church from the estate of Hermann Sudermann. The object was donated to the church by the Sudermann-Stiftung in 1955. [NB: romantic and nationalist writer (1857-1928) born in Matzicken, then Prussia; today southwest Lithuania; moved to Blankensee in 1902; travelled in Italy and other countries, and collected art works in his mansion there].
