Noted and partially illustrated in Wulf (2014) as the basin of a baptismal font of the Romanesque period, now raised on a modern base; the old basin was altered and an inscription added in 1601 [cf. Inscription area]; the old cylindrical sandstone basin is located at the west end of the church, beneath the organ loft. It is thought that it may be a font originally from the Holy Cross church in Hildesheim. The wall of the zylidrischen basin is divided by four pillars and four decorative friezes in eight square recessed boxes; at the upper edge there is a broad-leaf frieze; one side of the basin has a Greek cross, and there is a pattern of palmette decoration around it; the Gothic lettering of the 1601 inscription is skillfully rendered.
