Wulf (2014) notes that the font consists of two unrelated parts that were put together into a composite font in 1893; a 1607 roughly hemispherical basin mounted on an earlier pedestal base; around the upper side of the basin runs an inscription [cf. Inscription area] in golden lettering that
; below it are four cartouches in scrollwork frames that contain further inscriptions [cf. Inscription area]; standing besides one of the are winged chil figures ["zwei Putten mit Ähren"] holding objects, and the two figures for the Justice and Faith virtues; this source also identifies "die Darstellung den Rollwerkfeldern" on the basin. One of the inscriptions refers to the restoration of the font in 1607, from which one may assume the older font had been damaged [was it the original font from the 12th-century church here?]
