Church Notes: church here first documented as a three-nave Romanesque basilica, but the present church is mostly Gothic
There are two baptismal fonts in this church: one is a fragment of the old late-Romanesque vessel of the original church here; what remains now is just the lower end of the basin, with part of the sides; the sides are decorated with a blind arcade of round arches supported on columns that have capitals and bases; the fragment is in a poor state of conservation. Until recently it was displayed inside the church raised on an unrelated block of stone. Now [April 2014] a sphere of metal and glass has been inserted in the basin, the base block has been removed, and the font has been moved to the chancel, by the pulpit. [for the later font in this church see Index entry for Quedlinburg No.6]
