Noted and illustrated in St. Wiperti Virt. Katalog [www.wiperti.de/krypta.htm] [accessed 24 May 2014], and in Harz und Harzvorland [www.harzfreund.de/Kirchen/Trautenstein/Frose/Wiperti/wiperti.html] [accessed 24 May 2014] as a baptismal font of stone originally from the village church at Rieder; it consists of a roughly hemispheric basin decorated with a frieze of trefoil-headed arches [windows? niches?] all around; roll molding at the centre ring position; round-to-square base with angle ornaments [spur? head?]. Low-dome metal cover of a later date, decorated with a large cross that has a Christ in Majesty in the crossing of the arms.
