Baptismal font of 1680 ["Døypefonten er frå 1680" -- source: www.kirkesok.no/kirker/Eidfjord-gamle-kyrkje] [accessed 18 May 2014]. Described and illustrated in Anne Marta Hoff [www.norgeskirker.no/wiki/Eidfjord_gamle_kyrkje] [accessed 18 May 2014]: baptismal font of soapstone consisting of an octagonal basin with plane tapering sides, raised on an octagonal baluster-shaped base and an octagonal two-step lower base; the side of the base has a shield [?] on one of the sides, on the 'bulge', with an emblem or letters [initials?] in it. Overall it has the appearance of a very crude work in the general baluster-shape font style of the period found in parish churches all over Denmark and Sweden. No cover present. [NB: we have no information on the font of the original 1309 church here]
