Church Notes: original Olavskirken built in the reign of Håkon Håkonsson (king Haakon IV) (1204-1263); destroyed by fire in 1248, 1270 and 1463, being re-built each time; the present building dates to the mid-17thC, as the earlier reconstructions were also destryoyed by further fires.

Additional Comments: disappeared fonts? / destroyed fonts? (the ones from the 13thC and successive churches destroyed by fire [cf. ChurchNotes])
Font Notes:
The present font is modern, probably from the 19th-century renovation of the cathedral by Christian Christie; it consists of a quatrefoil-shaped basin raised on a central shaft and four clustered colonnettes at 90-degree angles, and a moulded lower base. [NB: we have no information on any of the previous fonts here, some [many? all?] of which were destroyed by successive fires].
