Church Notes: originally the church of the Dominican monastery founded in 1254; destroyed in mid-14thC; re-built late-14thC; demolished in late-17th and re-built in the Jesuitic Baroque style
Font Notes:
Baptismal font of marble, a round tapering basin with a broad flat moulding at the upper end, a saw-tooth pattern below; raised on a squat round-to-square base. No cover present. This font is locked inside the baptistery and appears to be not in use. The modern font in use consists of a hemispherical gadrooned basin raised on a fluted column and a round-to-square lower base standing on four brass feet. Low-dome brass cover with Greek cross finial.
