The present font here consists of a smallish hemispherical basin decorated with a pronounced lip-moulding at the upper rim, raised on a moulded circular pedestal base and lower base of the same shape; all in greyish veined marble. Low-dome brass cover with cross finial. According to Visites Aquitaine [http://visites.aquitaine.fr/fonts-baptismaux-de-l-eglise-saint-pierre-5345] [accessed 11 April 2014] the baptismal font came from the chapel of a 13thC pilgrims' hospital; the hospital had been destroyed in the 15th century, re-built thereafter and totally destroyed in 1880. [NB: we have no information on whether or not an earlier font had existed in the said hospital chapel].
