Baptismal font carved in granite probably around 1300; it consists of a quatrefoil-shaped basin that has scenes carved in the hollows of the quatrefoil: 1) Flight into Egypt, with the Virgin Mary and and Christ Child riding on a donkey; 2) possible exorcism by laying on of hands, the evil spirit at the bottom; 3) Samson and the lion; 4) the archangel Michael. The parish web site [www.esboenderup-kirke.dk/billedeside.htm] [accessed 23 February 2014] reports that the font, which had been removed from the church at some point, was found near the doctor's house where it served as water-trough for the horses. The base is almost identical to the sister font at nearby Græsted, round with a thick roll moulding above a splaying stem; probably a work of the same workshop.
