The present font consists of a basin decorated with a gadrooned pattern on the underbowl, raised on a round pedestal base ballooned in the centre, and a round-to-square lower base; in red veined marble. On it is a wooden rim-buffet cover of octagonal shape, lavishly gilded and painted with standing saintly figures in the panels, a large crown finial. The whole stands framed in a very large baldaquin consisting of four very tall columns supporting a large quadrangular top painted decorated in a similar style as the font cover, figures at the angles and a resplendent finial on the upper dome. [NB: we have no information on the baptismal font of the medieval church here].
