Church Notes: original church 12thC. Listed in Mérimée [ref.: PA00093276]: "L'église romane se composait d'une nef à trois travées terminée par un transept saillant sur lequel s'ouvrent une abside et deux absidioles. Au 19e siècle, une travée a été ajoutée à la nef par l'architecte Moreau. Le portail du 12e siècle a été remonté sur la façade moderne. A l'intérieur, éléments de décor romans, avec des chapiteaux figurés ou géométriques, ainsi qu'un décor peint au 19e siècle."

Reported in an oral presentation by Georges de Soultrait to the 21st session of the 1854 Congrès archéologique de France, as one of several stone fonts of the late-15th or early-16th century in the Allier. The font here is described in Clément's Inventaire (1891): "Les fonts baptismaux sont formés d'un chapiteau carré, sans moulure, placé sur un morceau de fût de colonne (fn1 "Cfr. C.A. p. 120. M. de Soultrait, semble avoir confondu ces fonts sans ornements avec le bénitier du XVe siècle dont il sera parlé plus loin.") There is an entry in Palissy [ref.: PM03000441] for a stone stoup of the 15th century, but its other entry for the furnishings of this church [Palissy [ref.: PM03000442]] refers to its contents as a baptismal font, which Clément [cf. supra] thought a mistake.
