A font and wooden wrap-around canopy of the 18th century are reported and illustrated in Palissy [ref.: PM15000217], part of the work having been stolen in 2003 [= "oeuvre volée partiellement [...] 4 sculptures provenant des fonts baptismaux, paire de têtes d'angelots et 2 demi-reliefs représentant le Christ dans le Jourdain et saint Jean-Baptiste, volées le 24 septembre 2003"]. The wooden canopy is of the type that totally encloses the font at the bottom, and has a rim-buffet type above with doors that open to provide access to the interior; the upper section usually decorated with statuary or paintings; this one had [cf. supra] a carved and painted scene of the Baptism of Christ in the Jordan, with a pair of cherub heads, and a dove with open wings finial; very aptly called "armoire" in French; we have no information on the font inside [NB: some of these late canopies found in French churches enclose medieval fonts]. The theft referred to in the Cantal Passion entry above was the disappearence of the whole figural finial arrangement that included a Baptism of Christ scene, two chrubs and the dove of the Holy Ghost, stolen in 2003. [NB: no description of the actual material of the font surrounded by its wooden enclosure found].
[NB: we have no information on the font of the original 12th-century church here].
