Font Notes:
The group of objects that constitutes the baptismal font is a confusing combination of what appears to be a basin of red marble donated by the Adhémar family and bearing their arms, basin that now serves as base for a metal holy water container, with a wooden rim-buffet type of cover decorated with gilded scenes and legends on the sides; the doors of the rim-buffet cover open to provide access to the interior; the inner sides are painted 'faux marbre'. The whole was completed witjh a golded statue of the Baptist that is now in the Castle museum. Listed and illustratedd in Palissy [refs.: PM26000116, PM26000127 and IM26000590]: " fonts baptismaux, fontaine baptismale, clôture des fonts baptismaux [...] pierre ; marbre : taillé ; cuivre (rouge) ; fer : forgé [...] [NB: we have no information on the original font of the mid-16th century church here].
