The present font here consists of a round basin with a rim moulding, stylised ribbed pattern on the underbowl, raised on a bulbous pedestal base, and moulded lower base; appears late-17th or 18th-century. The wooden cover is a truncated lower dome. The wide round plinth could be the earliest part of the whole, probably medieval. Noted and illustrated in Visites Aquitaine [http://visites.aquitaine.fr/fonts-baptismaux-de-l-eglise-saint-hilaire] [accessed 22 December 2013]: "La vasque en pierre sculptée conserve son couvercle de bois d’origine." [NB: we have no information on the font of the 12th-century church here].
