The present church dates from 1876 (the date of consecration; the actual date of completion was 1893). The original church of the medieval 'bastide' is believed to have been almost destroyed in the Hundred Year War. The church was re-built in the 17th century but witnesses accounts from soon after the Revolution reveal that the whole building was in a dreadful state of repair, with holes in the tower, the tabernacle replaced by the box of an old clock, etc. [source: Église de Miramont de Guyenne [http://cities.reseaudescommunes.fr/cities/768/documents/sebscdzip1vgqt.pdf [accessed 20 December 2013]]. The present font is a plain tapering hexagonal form on the outside, with a round inner well; modern. [NB: we have no information on the font of the medieval church here].
