The present font appears to be a composite object; it consists of an octagonal basin with chamfered upper and lower edges; there are two mouldings between which are eight shields, one of which is charged with a trefoiled cross emblem; the others, except one that is blank, appear to have [have had?] other emblems on them originally, either painted or, as the remaining cross, carved; raised on a re-used piece of sculpture resembling a boss. The wood cover, round, flat and plain, is modern. Noted and illustrated in Visites Aquitaine [http://visites.aquitaine.fr/fonts-baptismaux-de-l-eglise-notre-dame-de-l-assomption-24480] [accessed 7 December 2013]: “La cuve de l’église Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption date du XVe siècle, bien que son pied soit probablement antérieur. Cette cuve de forme octogonale, présente sur chacune de ses faces des armoiries gravées. L’une d’entre elles comporte une croix tréflée sculptée." Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM24000010]: "fonts baptismaux [...] Cuve baptismale du 15e siècle remontée sur un pied ancien (?) [...] Pied remployé ; écussons armoriés martelés (à l'exception d'un seul) [...] armoiries non identifiées (sur la cuve) : àa la croix tréflée". There is a late stoup, with the date 1879 carved on its pedestal base, inside the church, by the left side of the entranceway.
