Fragment of the basin of a baptismal font decorated with Greek crosses (one Maltese) inscribed in circles, and what appears to be the top of a heart with a flower atop. Noted and illustrated in Visites Aquitaine [http://visites.aquitaine.fr/fonts-baptismaux-de-l-eglise-de-sainte-eulalie-d-ans] [accessed 2 December 2013]: "La cuve baptismale de l’église de Sainte-Eulalie-d’Ans semble avoir été réalisée à la même époque que l’église romane qui l’abrite. Cet objet est daté aux alentours du XII-XIIIe siècle. Réalisée en pierre, la structure extérieure de la cuve est polygonale et ornée de croix et d’un cœur d’où surgit une fleur de lys. A l’intérieur, où était plongé le baptisé, se trouve une vasque, elle aussi décorée d’une croix. Par ailleurs, on pense que cette cuve était complétée par un groupe sculpté, beaucoup plus tardif (certainement XIXe siècle), représentant le baptême du Christ par saint Jean-Baptiste. Cette scène dite du Jourdain est l’iconographie consacrée aux baptêmes." Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM24000329]: "fonts baptismaux [...] Cuve polygonale à volume intérieur circulaire [...] Cercles en cuvette avec croix en relief en réserve ; un cercle avec croix gravée ; un coeur gravé d'où sort une fleur de lys [...] 12e siècle ; 13e siècle" [NB: Palissy gives the location as "mairie"]. Also in this church is a monolithic circular stoup here has been oddly chamfered at the upper basin into a pentagonal shape.
