Laas nr. Sauveterre-de-Béarn / Laàs / Làas / Las / Sent-Bertemiu de Laas

The present font and the church itself are replacements of the Romanesque building here, of which only a few stones survived. Noted and illustrated in Visites Aquitaine [http://visites.aquitaine.fr/fonts-baptismaux-de-l-eglise-de-laas] [accessed 30 November 2013]: "La cuve, à fond arrondi, présente un bord droit simplement orné d’une moulure creuse. Elle est couverte d’un cône aplati métallique, avec boule et croix en amortissement. Cette cuve baptismale est soutenue par un fût cylindrique lui-même reposant sur un socle carré à moulure. Comme cela est fréquent, le couvercle est rendu inamovible par un cadenas." [NB: we have no information on the font of the original Romanesque church here].
