Font Notes:
Described in Lampe & Willing (2012) as a baptismal font made of grey sandstone consisting of a round basin decorated with an arcade of six arches on columns with capitals and bases and rosettes in the spandrels; in the arches are: 1)1581; 2)a stone mason mark; 3)charged shield; 4)charged shield; 5)Crucifixion scene with two heraldic lilies; 6)John the Baptist?; some of the motifs and symbols in the arches are inscribed in a scroll frame; the basin rests on four very schematic sejant lions. The basin sides are brightly painted; the lions of the base are not. There is a metal top on the basin, the baptismal dish made in 1962 by the Hümmer artist W. Hugues. The entry for this font in the DIO (Deutsche Inschriften Online) [https://www.inschriften.net/landkreis-holzminden/inschrift/nr/di083-0092.html] [accessed 6 February 2023] identifies one of the coats of arms as belonging to the Wrede family ["Wappen Wrede (gespalten, darüber Kranz mit fünf Blüten)"], the other to the Falkenberg Family ["Wappen Falkenberg (zwei auswärts gekehrte, aufrechte Schlüssel)"], and notes: "Taufstein. Grauer Sandstein. Noted and illustrated in the entry for this church in the Evangelisch-lutherische Landeskirche Hannovers [https://www.trinitatis-gesamtkirchengemeinde.de/Unsere-Kirchen/Lauenfoerde] [accessed 6 February 2023]: "Der Taufstein ist aus dem Jahr 1581.
