Described and illustrated in the Wikipedia entry for this church [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Nicolai_(Bodenwerder)] [accesswed 6 February 2023]: "Der Taufstein aus farbig gefasstem grauen Sandstein ist einer der ältesten Ausstattungsgegenstände. [NB: the source of the entry may have been Georg Dehio, Bearbeitung Gerd Weiß: Handbuch der deutschen Kunstdenkmäler, Bremen, Niedersachsen, Neubearbeitung 1992, S. 236]. Baptismal font made of grey sandstone in 1608, date inscribed on its side; it has a Christ Child with an orb, and the four Evangelists; includes an inscription in Latin done in 1871 by Mithoff. The modern bronze cover was made by Bruno Schmitz in 1961.
