[= baptismal font with prophets on the base; donated by the people of Hans Steinmetz in 1602; workshop of Hans Friedemann]. The font consists of a heptagonal basin with rounded underbowl; at the angles of the upper rim are human heads; the basin sides have lozenge motifs in a stylised foliage frame; on the underbowl sides are putti-like angels holding objects which appear to be Instruments of the Passion; at the angles are buttresses [NB: unlike the ones on the Reglerkirche font these do not have human heads, unless one considers the heads at the upper rim]; seated around the heptagonal base are seven prophets identified by the inscription painted above their heads. The font was restored in 2009. [cf. Index entry for Erfurt No. 4 for a similar, but not identical font at Reglerkirche Erfurt]
