The stoup here is noted in Collard (1965) among a list of mortars used as holy-water stoups. Mortar-shaped cast-iron holy-water stoup of the late 15th century listed in Palissy [ref.: PM58000213]: "bénitier [...] fonte de fer [...] Mortier muni de deux anses décorées de moulures et d'un bandeau. L'inscription est interrompue par de petits médaillons en relief [...] inscription (latin) : (en lettres gothiques) [...] 4e quart 15e siècle". Reported in www.gennievre.ne [accessed 19 August 2013]: "Bénitier en fonte du XVIè siècle, avec versets en lettres minuscules gothiques."
