Described and illustrated in Rossa (2010): the baptismal font of St. Nicholas Church dates from 1563 and was made of tin plate on a wooden frame by Saxon tinsmith Stephan Hahn and his assistant Paul Hermann. The basin has a protruding octagonal upper rim, moulded and with an inscription; the basin proper is octagonal and rounded at the unbderbowl, the sides with large medallions, of which only two originals have survived: one depicts Christ's baptism in the Jordan; the other shows Christ and Nicodemus in conversation; the inscriptions are baptism-related. Badly damaged in 1939, it was restored and is now located at the west end of the nave.
