The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 31 January 2021] notes: "La Asunción de Nuestra Señora es la titular de la iglesia, románica, de finales del siglo XII, con interesantes capiteles en el interior [...] la pila de bautismo es también románica". Monolithic baptismal font in the form of a roughly hemispherical basin without a base, resting directly on the ground; it is totally plain, and has some defects on the surface of the sides; these may be original flaws of the stone, or have been caused by moving the font by rolling it on its sides, an unfortunate but common practice. The date of the font is difficult to estimate without a close look at the carving pattern; it does have a metal staple at the upper rim to secure a cover, and it is probably medieval. The church dates back to the late 11th or early 12th century [cf. ChurchNotes] but we are unable at present to date the font that far back.
