The present font at St. Martin's church consists of a stone hemispherical basin, plain except for a thick roll moulding at the upper rim, raised on a cylindrical pedestal that appears to be made of, or covered in, wood. The basin is of regular proportions and difficult to date without further examination, as it is of design thta endured through the medieval period into later centuries, and could date anywhere from the 11th to the 15th century, or even later. The wooden cover on the font is round and flat, with metal hasps at both ends, hinged for opening; it appears modern.
